The Creativity Council is a group of 15-20 people from all kinds of backgrounds and experiences. A bit like a committee or a steering group, they have meetings, discussions and workshops to imagine how live performance and creativity can make Bradford a better place to live and work. BPH consults with the Creativity Council regularly to gather feedback on our programmes, activities and funding grants. Ultimately the Creativity Council is in charge of selecting the projects and artists we fund via our Make Work grants. The Creativity Council is very much connected to the communities in Bradford, and they make sure we are serving the needs of the people in Bradford. We’re currently recruiting up to 5 people to join the Creativity Council.
Who are we looking for?
We are particularly interested in hearing from young people from African, Caribbean and South Asian heritage and Disabled people, but we would love to hear from everyone. We want all kinds of people to be part of the Creativity Council. People who:
✔ Do or don’t work in the arts.
✔ Do or don’t consider themselves to be creative.
✔ Have or haven’t done something like this before.
✔ Enjoy watching all kinds of live performances.
✔ Are passionate about seeing more exciting events happening in Bradford.
✔ Are positive about Bradford’s cultures, communities and potential.
✔ Want to get stuck in, attend the meetings and personally develop.
✔ Are over 18 years old.
What do you get in return?
The Creativity Council is fully supported, training is provided, and expenses are covered. This includes:
✔ Providing for any access needs.
✔ Providing food and drinks at meetings and events.
✔ Helping to cover direct costs, such as transport or childcare.
✔ A contribution of £50 for each official meeting attended (up to £250 per year).
✔ All costs for trips and visits will be fully covered, including travel, tickets and food.
✔ Access to the entire programme of creative training and development being developed by BPH.
What is the commitment?
We are asking people to sign up to be on the Creativity Council for the next two years: October 2021 to October 2023.
1 x half-day introduction session:
✔ To meet all the other Creativity Council members.
✔ To make sure you have all the knowledge and information you need to be an influential member of the Creativity Council.
✔ To make sure that it works in a way that suits you – an opportunity to feed into how the Creativity Council will run and share what you are most interested in being involved in.
✔ The first induction session will take place in November 2021, online.
4 x half-day official meetings per year:
✔ The Creativity Council will meet once a quarter to respond to BPH project plans, feed-in thoughts and ideas, and assess applications.
Trips, training and visits:
In between meetings, there will be regular optional offers of:
✔ Trips to see shows inspired by different work and work by different people, with discussions around how we assess quality and measure success.
✔ Visits to companies and projects in Bradford and beyond to be inspired by different ideas and ways of working.
✔ Training, development, mentoring and support: to ensure everyone can fully engage in the Creativity Council.
