Front Room Poetry with Victoria McNulty 30 June at 7.30 pm on Zoom

Front Room Poetry was our response to the pandemic. We knew that there were poets scribbling in bedrooms and bus stops way before COVID hit, all with something to say but not many local places or platforms to say it. Spoken word and poetry is known for its low-fi, low-cost nature, so it was quite easy for us to respond digitally and offer a space, a home for the words.

Each month we have seen some of the UK’s most exciting poets headline in living rooms- from the gut kicking honesty of Toria Garbutt to the word whining one bops of Debris Stevenson. Each headliner has given their heart and more, with their words literally climbing through screens to wipe the tears from our cheeks.

And then there’s the open mic poets, the seasoned to the brand new, in Bradford and beyond, braving it and saying it as it is. Front Room Poetry has been so much about these people who have brought creative energy to the night, and it has been so humbling to witness the individual and collective journey’s throughout the year.

Finally there’s the audience, on sofas and settees around the world listening. Listening. Supporting the arts, supporting the poets, and supporting each other in these testing times. We have done this together.
