Visual Artists of Bradford! If you've been looking for a forum to share you work and gain feedback, or you miss the constructive crits from your art school days - look no further than our network of peer-to-peer artist critiques, hosted across the Bradford district.

Bradford Producing Hub is supporting arts organisations across the Bradford district to host a network of peer-to-peer artist critiques – also known as ‘crits’. These sessions are open to any visual artist, at any stage of their career to attend and present work, ask questions, and gain valuable feedback and ideas to drive their creative practice forwards.

What do the artist crits involve?

The crits are hosted by experienced artist facilitators who create an equitable and constructive space for sharing. To take part you will need to book a place and bring a piece of your artwork, either finished or a work in progress, that you would like to receive feedback on from a group of your artistic peers.

When you attend a Peer-to-Peer Artist Critique we ask you to be constructive and thoughtful in your feedback to other artists. Be helpful and honest with your comments; focusing on progress and improvement is the ultimate goal of these sessions.

For more on these sessions, please refer to the FAQ section at the bottom of this page.

FAQs

These sessions take place regularly in venues across the Bradford district in the hope that there are sessions fairly local to you. At the moment, we have partnered with the following organisations to host crits:

  • Keighley Creative
  • Saltaire Art Gallery
  • South Square Centre, Thornton
  • Trapezium Arts, Bradford City Centre

Each venue will book places for their critiques separately, so use the links above to book your place at your chosen venue.

Crits will be attended by artists at different stages of their careers, working in different media. Some crits are artform specific (Saltaire Gallery for fine art) but most are combined art forms.

No. Places are limited so everyone who attends will be asked to present something and to give feedback to others.

Yes, but we recommend giving yourself time to respond to the feedback from your previous critique before booking the next one.

You can present a completed piece of work or a work in progress that would be useful for you to get feedback on. Maybe you’ve hit a block, want to try out a different direction, need to practise talking about your work, or just want to share your work with other artists. It’s usually helpful to some prepared with some specific questions or provocations to ask the group in relation to your work.
