Extracurricular: Touring and the Pandemic Impact with Chris Lloyd, Dermot Daly and Matthew Linley 17 November 2021 at 6 pm – 7:30 pm on Zoom

The pandemic has been an unpredictable space for us all. Yet, during this time, some of us have been powering through to continue to create live art experiences and tell universal stories.

Extracurricular: Touring and the Pandemic Impact is an online open forum discussion where we can listen and speak about our processes/experience about touring during the pandemic with a team of brilliant creatives who have gone through a journey to make live art happen in 2021. Our panel of experts will provide insights into their planning and delivery of performances they have taken on tour during the pandemic.

Topics of discussion:

1) Creating a budget that includes sick pay contributions, COVID tests, and account for people falling ill.

2) Protocols and strategies for cancelling a tour/show due to COVID.

3) Artists rights at work and managing a crisis on tour.

4) How COVID impacts creative decisions in the rehearsal room.

Meet the Team

Chris Lloyd – A Red Ladder employee of over 10 years, Chris is still in constant awe of the talent he has to work with at the company. Lloyd stumbled across Red Ladder after stints at the West Yorkshire Playhouse, Rosehill Theatre in Cumbria, three years in the south of Spain and ten years in London at Theatre Royal Stratford East and The Shaw Theatre in Euston.

Dermot Daly – As an actor and performer he has performed for radio, television, film and theatre. He has been an associate faculty member of the New York Institute of Dance and Education and is currently an Associate Artist of Freedom Studios, a Creative Associate of the Geraldine Connor Foundation, and an Associate Artist of Arts at the Arms. He is a trustee of Wrongsemble, One Tenth Human, and Mikron Theatre Company.

Mathew Linley – Until December 2017 Mathew was an  Artistic Director and Chief Executive of Unity Theatre, Liverpool, leaving to pursue freelance projects, including producing the UK tour of Nina a story about me and Nina Simone. Chris is a theatre maker, creative producer and freelance arts manager who loves working with artists and making new (often crazy) stuff happen, and especially stuff which has something to say to today’s world.
