Creative Freelancer Guide to Tax and Self-Assessment

Wednesday 15 January

1 - 2 PM
Online, Zoom

January brings fresh energy and focus for the year ahead - don’t let self-assessment diminish your motivation! In our Creative Freelancer Guide to Tax and Self-Assessment, we'll share tips to simplify managing your freelance finances and make submitting your tax return less daunting.

Being freelance in arts and culture can be challenging, especially when it comes to managing your finances. Start 2025 with clarity and confidence by joining our online workshop hosted by Callum Holt from The Middle Floor. This session will demystify self-employment and tax; covering how self-employment affects other work, what financial records you need to keep, and which expenses and income to include in your tax return.

This session is for you if you’re new to freelancing or you lack confidence in completing a self-assessment tax return.

The workshop will cover:

  • What the income tax threshold is and how it works
  • The difference between PAYE and self-employed, and how the two impact one another when it comes to tax
  • What your self-assessment involves and what information should be included, such as PAYE earnings, money earned through self-employment and expenses
  • What financial information you need to keep and for how long

Callum is also offering a limited number of one-to-one sessions for tailored guidance on completing your self-assessment. These sessions are limited, so please book only if you can commit to attending and have clear, specific questions ready.
