Lalela – Listen with THABO is a collective listening of BantuTronic music in an early evening, candlelit event with THABO and some of his favourite records. This event is part of Opera North’s Wellbeing Weekend.

After the event we’ll be heading to the brilliant Bundobust to reflect on the experience over some delicious vegetarian Indian street food – it’s on us.

Go and See Trip

Friday 22 March, 2024

Trip itinerary
What's the show about?

Listen with your memories, listen with your visions. Listen with your wondering mind, and your beating heart, just… listen.

For over a decade, THABO has been a captivating musical storyteller, using his soulful melodies to shed light on pressing global issues such as climate change and social challenges. His music carries a unique charm and purpose that especially resonates with live audiences. THABO’s artistic expression has now broadened and evolved to embrace the BantuTronic philosophy, conceived as a compelling exploration that seamlessly melds ancient traditions and futuristic dreams.

Anchored in the rich cultural tapestry of the Bantu people, this philosophy offers a unique perspective on the interplay between humanity, nature, and the cosmos. In this current practice, THABO weaves together music, storytelling, and immersive experiences, creating multi-sensory realms that transport audiences.

All information about Lalela can be found here.

Access and travel costs

Ticket costs are covered as part of our Go and See trips as well as any other costs detailed above. However, we realise other costs may cause a barrier to you being able to attend – and we can help with that.

We have travel and access funds available to make these opportunities as accessible to as many people as possible. Please let us know what you need when entering the ballot – your requests won’t affect your chances of being selected to attend.

Things we can cover:

Access costs: additional costs you may have to enable you to attend; things like disability support, interpretation, or childcare.

Travel costs: if you have any other associated travel costs that you need assistance with, please let us know in your entry.

We do not means-test or ask you to prove that you need this financial support, but where possible we need to agree in advance on what costs we will cover, and you will need to provide receipts to claim costs back from us. Please only apply for these if you need to, as this will ensure we can provide funds to those who really need them.
