Bradford Producing Hub has recognised a need for writers of all kinds to have a held space to gain support with goal-setting and accountability to complete their writing projects.

Held Spaces for Writing is a free, supportive bi-monthly event to help you progress with any writing projects you have going on. You don’t need to be a playwright, poet or screenwriter, you could be writing an essay or report or funding bid. This is a space to support writing of any kind. Come with your laptops, pens, and notebooks and let’s get writing!

About Held Spaces for Writing

We know completing (or even starting) writing projects can be difficult. Especially if it’s unpaid or self-led. Even if it isn’t, writing is hard! We all need some help from time to time, with carving out goals, being accountable, kick-starting, progressing and completing writing projects of all kinds. Held Spaces for Writing brings together a community of supportive writers to encourage one another to progress with their projects.

A member of the BPH team facilitates each 2-hour session and will bring their specialisms in either playwriting, poetry, songwriting, screenwriting, fundraising, marketing and more. The session will start with a group check-in and a quick goal-setting activity. You’ll then warm up your writing muscles in a 10-minute exercise themed around the host’s specialism. You’ll then have at least 1hr 15mins of uninterrupted writing time to kick start, progress, or complete your writing project.

Writing projects you can bring to the sessions

These sessions are not just limited to those working on creative writing projects, you’re welcome to bring any kind of writing project to our Held Spaces for Writing, these might include:

  • Fundraising bid-writing
  • Presentations and speeches
