Thursday 30 April 2026
12 - 6 PM (drop-in)
Assembly Bradford, 20 North Parade BD1 3HT
Do you leave your taxes until the last possible moment every January? This year, do them in April instead, and spend the rest of the year feeling insufferably smug about it.
No booking necessary, just drop by.
Smug Club is a relaxed drop-in space for artists and creative freelancers who want to get their self-assessment tax return done early. There are no experts on hand, but there will be peer support, good company, tea, coffee, and biscuits. Bring everything you need to get started, and we’ll get cracking together!
Alison McIntyre, Creative Instigator at Bradford Producing Hub, and Sophie Powell, Freelance Artist and Producer, will be hosting the space. They won’t be walking you through your return step by step, but between everyone in the room, there’s a good chance someone has dealt with whatever question you’re wrestling with.
Come for an hour, stay for the afternoon. Drop in any time between 12 and 6pm.
What to bring
Here’s a quick checklist of what could be useful to bring or have access to:
- Your laptop
- Your finance spreadsheet
- Invoices
- Receipts or expenses records
- Info on other income sources
- P45/60s if you’re also employed
- Student loan details
- Pension contribution details
Don’t worry if you don’t have all of the above organised, you could use the session purely to get started getting your information together!
