From Wannabe Writer to Writer: Celebrating Bradford’s Emerging Screenwriting Talent

Bradford’s stories deserve to be told and its emerging writers are finding their voices.

We’re proud to see ‘Write Across Bradford’, an exciting BBC Writers development programme that Bradford Producing Hub helped bring to the district, celebrated in a new BBC Writers blog.

Led by BBC Writers in collaboration with Bradford Producing Hub, Word Up North, New Writing North, Bradford Arts Centre and Screen Yorkshire, the eight-week programme created an opportunity for ten emerging Bradford writers to develop their storytelling skills, explore writing for television and connect with industry professionals.

In the BBC’s latest blog, ‘Write Across Bradford – From Wannabe Writer to Writer’, participant Stephanie Firth shares her experience of the programme and what it means to take those first steps towards becoming a screenwriter.

For us at Bradford Producing Hub, this is what supporting local creative talent is all about: opening doors, nurturing new voices and helping Bradford’s stories find their place on a bigger stage.

We’re excited to see where these writers go next!
