PROPEL is our 40-day paid work placement programme for early-career creatives working in producing, production and programming.

PROPEL has connected emerging talent with top festivals, theatres, and performance companies across the North for over two years. For 2025, we’ve partnered with some exciting new hosts in Bradford and West Yorkshire, offering five hands-on paid placements in production, producing, and programming.

We’re excited to have partnered with Bradford 2025 to offer an early-career Bradford producer a 40-day placement working as an Assistant Producer on the Turner Prize as it comes to Bradford in autumn 2025.

About the placement host

Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture are delivering 12 unforgettable months of creativity, culture and arts across the District. From New Year’s Day to New Year’s Eve 2025, the District will explode with shows, exhibitions and events, by and for everyone.

Working alongside the Senior Producer, the role will support the delivery of the Turner Prize 2025’s key high-profile events and assist with elements of the Turner Prize public programme, including Thursday Late Events.

What will I get out of the placement?

Through this placement, you will:

  • Be paid £150 per day for 40 days of work – that’s £6,000 in total
  • Gain hands-on experience working with professional producers to deliver high-quality events
  • Have access to additional support and mentoring through Bradford Producing Hub
About the placement

The placement will take place over the below schedule and the host has some flexibility to accommodate the needs of the successful candidate.

Placement dates:

  • August – December 2025
  • 2 days per week over 20 weeks
  • Days can be flexible to suit the candidate
  • Total of 40 days

Key weeks to have full availability:

  • Week commencing 22 September 2025
  • Week commencing 8 December 2025
On these event weeks, more than 2 days will likely be required, so we can reduce days on other weeks to accommodate.

Essential key event dates:

  • Thursday 25 September 2025: Launch Opening Events
  • Friday 26 September 2025: Community and Sector Previews
  • October to December (dates tbc): Thursday Late Events
  • Tuesday 9 December – Awards Ceremony

During the key events delivery weeks, it is expected that the candidate will be working from a mixture of the Bradford 2025 office in the city centre and at the event sites across the district.
During events, there will be some evening and potentially weekend working, the candidate will be able to start later to account for this.

We are happy to be flexible around the needs of the candidate and what fits in with their other commitments. We’re also happy to discuss how a mixture of onsite and remote working can best suit their circumstances.

Working alongside the Senior Producer, the role will support the delivery of the Turner Prize 2025’s key high-profile events and assist with elements of the Turner Prize public programme, including Thursday Late Events.

You will be part of a producing team which has 4 core members delivering the project. These include the Partnerships Lead, Senior Producer, Producer, Assistant Producer and Production Manager. There will be cross-working with other Bradford 2025 departments (including production, engagement, volunteering and audiences) and external core project partners and stakeholders. The team consists of a mixture of full-time, part-time and freelance roles.

Key roles and responsibilities include:

  • Support the team in the development and planning of the events through to their delivery on-site

  • Support the volunteer programme, working with the team to plan training, event briefings, and roll out at events
  • Support the delivery team at events, with specific responsibilities to be defined
