I am a female British Muslim interdisciplinary artist, Creative Director & co-founder of Kaur & Baleem Creatives, established in 2018. I have over five years of experience within the creative industry & hold a first-class BA Hons in Art Enterprise and an HND in Performance Arts (Production). My creative practice explores relational and concept art, exploring taboo subjects surrounding Muslim and South Asian women.

We work in collaboration with community groups, printers, artists & a writers to co-create large scale letterpress works from our workshop in Salts Works. We also offer community & private workshop opportunities to write, create and print your own works using this very special press.

I’m a mulit-disciplinary visual artist with a current focus on mixed media painting. I explore issues around value and encourage celebration and appreciate of where we live. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) underpins my creative practice. I use it to challenge negative thoughts, both whilst I explore creative processes and also to inform my subject matter, my hometown, Keighley, to challenge people’s assumptions and stereotypes of the town. I graduated two years ago from Leeds Arts, fine art degree. I am a contemporary artist specialising in painting and sculpture. I mainly specialise in ceramic, however I also work with plaster, concrete and casting, as well as acrylic painting. I’m mainly interested in the methods of making, which allow the viewer to think about the process behind my work.

I am looking to collaborate with artists who work in photography, filmmaking, storytelling and sound. My main research explores issues around representation and identity and I worked in collaboration wth the refugee and asylum seeker community on an arts project for National Refugee Week 2020 called This is Me. I would really like to work more creatively and collaboratively, and recently co-designed and ran a funded programme at Theatre in the Mill (Bradford) called Arts and Activism.

I work from: *My own studio in Idle where I paint, draw and print (daily). *A shared studio in Keighley Creative from where I run life and portrait drawing groups at the moment. *West Yorkshire Print Workshop where I print (etching, collagraph and screen)

I am happy in my own studio doing my own thing for most of the time. I am always happy to exhibit or cooperate if the right opportunity arises. The days of doing work for nothing have evaporated as I need to eat.

I am printmaker specialising in etchings and collagraphs as well as other printmaking methods. The majority of my work has been inspired by my travel overseas as I have a natural curiosity about different cultures. I draw inspiration from architecture, city scenes, crowds and everyday life. My most recent prints have been inspired by the industrial architecture of Bradford.

I opened an art gallery in Thornton in 2022 called The Apothecary Gallery in order to showcase and promote my own work as well as that of other local artists. The gallery has a rolling programme of exhibitions and it’s my intention to enrich the cultural life and visual arts scene in Bradford.

My open, intuitive and sensitive approach, combined with my understanding of light and compositional strength, create emotive, honest, powerful and engaging photographs. My work can be described as soft activism featuring both people and nature shown in evocative, engaging and thoughtful ways. My work looks to challenge how we think about our lives, our values and our relationships with both people and place.

I am interested in how certain aspect of my practice might be complimented by the work and input of other artists and welcome initial conversations which might lead on to interesting possibilities. About me
I have been creating Mixed Media Abstract work since 2019. Working mainly on cold pressed paper and canvas, I love the texture these surfaces give to my work. Palette knives, catalyst blades and old credit cards are some of my favourite tools which I use to build up pieces layer by layer to give depth and intrigue. Touchy-feely art work is what I am always trying to achieve.
