Bradford Dance Sector Gathering

Calling the dance community of Bradford!

Join us for a gathering of dancers, choreographers, teachers, practitioners, producers, and dance professionals from every corner of the sector. The time is right to come together, share experiences and ask the questions: Who’s here? What are we all doing? And how can we help each other thrive?

Facilitated by BPH friend and Dance Dramaturg, Lou Cope, this one-day event is aimed at helping kick-start support, collaboration and networking across the sector.

We will be joined by speakers from Bradford 2025 and Bradford Producing Hub to discuss the opportunities available for a strong and united Bradford Dance Community.

Meet the hosts

Lou Cope

Lou Cope is a Dramaturg and Development Specialist who has worked in Europe, Australia, the Middle East, America and across the UK. She works in theatre, opera and dance (including ballet, contemporary, South Asian, participatory, hip-hop, children’s and inclusive) - indoors and outdoors, at all scales and in numerous contexts. Outside of her work on shows, Lou also offers practice, collaboration and organisational dramaturgy – helping individuals, teams and organisations find authentic, effective and impactful ways forward.

Louise Hodgson​

Louise is the Artistic Director of her own arts organisation Liberty Arts Productions CIC, the most recent project being STEM Theatre in a Box. She teaches regular classes for Yorkshire Dance’s ‘Dance On’ programme for the over 55’s across Bradford. As well as producing all Liberty Arts' projects, Louise is also a freelance creative producer and has produced for Heifer Productions and Cecil Green Arts. Louise is also a dance facilitator for the Bradford Belles, under her alter-ego 'Disco Belle'! A Bradford lass born and bred, she loves dancing, theatre and a proper Bradford curry!

Financial support

We have some bursaries and access funds available to enable participants to attend this event.

Bursaries are a contribution towards your time to help you attend when you might otherwise be working. You can claim up to £75 per day.

Access costs are for additional costs you may have to pay to enable you to attend. Things like travel, disability support, interpretation, caring or childcare.

We do not means-test or ask you to prove that you need this financial support, but we need to agree in advance on what costs we will cover (wherever possible) and will ask you to provide receipts to claim costs back from us.
So that we can continue to provide access support to people who may not otherwise be able to participate in our activities, please only apply for bursaries or access funds if you need them.
