Stage Door is an opportunity created by Good Chance for people from refugee backgrounds at the early stage of their careers to participate in bespoke traineeships to develop their skills, networks and professional experience.
At Bradford Producing Hub (BPH), we’ve partnered with live events organisations for over three years to host transformative paid work placements. We’re now proud to partner with Good Chance to offer a traineeship within our own team for an aspiring producer to gain hands-on experience in producing events and artist development programmes.
We’re looking for someone excited about supporting the growth of artists and contributing to a vibrant arts sector here in Bradford, while building their own experience as an Assistant Producer.

Who is this placement for?
This traineeship is for you if you are:
- At the beginning of your career and bring with you the strength and perspective of someone with lived experience of displacement, such as a refugee, or an asylum seeker with the right to work in the UK (check eligibility)
- Living in the Bradford district
- 18 years old or over when the traineeship startsÂ
- Eligible to work in the UK
- Interested in developing a career in producing or arts administration
- Proactive and eager to learn and make the most of this opportunity
- Keen to get involved and get hands-on as part of our training sessions and eventsÂ
- Organised with your time and good at working collaboratively as part of a team
- Experienced in basic IT skills, including the use of email and Word documentsÂ
- Available throughout the traineeship period (if there are any weeks that you can’t do, please speak to us as there may be some flexibility)

You will be paid £120 per day for 24 days of work – that’s £2,880 in total.

8 September – 28 November 2025 (12 weeks): 2 days per week, with one day ideally being Mondays.
We can adapt the working schedule to fit around your other commitments, such as family responsibilities, appointments, or other work.

Traineeship details
The Assistant Producer will support the BPH team with the planning, design, delivery, and evaluation of our training programmes and events. You will gain hands-on experience working in an arts development organisation and develop your skills and networks.
You will have a main point of contact at BPH, who will provide regular check-ins and support you with your work. The Good Chance team will provide additional support throughout the placement period, including group cohort sessions with other Stage Door trainees to share skills, build networks and wellbeing support.
There will also be funding available for you to attend professional development activities, which may include training days, skills sessions and webinars, or theatre and event outings.
Following the placement, BPH will offer up to 3 additional mentoring sessions, looking specifically at what’s next, and helping with further development and career opportunities. You will also be invited to remain a part of the Stage Door network, which will include further development opportunities in the future, as well as tickets, outings and networking.
Roles and responsibilities
Key roles and responsibilities may include:
- Alongside the BPH team and freelancers, contribute to the planning and design of BPH development programmes
- Support the Programmes Producer and other project leads to communicate with workshop leaders, speakers and other partners to make sure they have all the information and support they need to deliver their sessions
- Work with the Administrator to draft and coordinate communications with participants and event attendees, including participation agreements, follow up information and feedback surveysÂ
- Work alongside the Programmes Producer and Administrator to source and put in place all facilities required for successful project delivery, including venues, catering, travel, accommodation, resources, access provision, etc
- Support the delivery of training sessions and eventsÂ
- Support marketing and social media output in coordination with the Marketing and Communications Manager and AdministratorÂ
- Support the team with monitoring and evaluation activitiesÂ
- Undertake project-related research as required
- Attend meetings as required, including weekly team meetings
Evening work may occasionally be required for the delivery of events and sessions.

If you’re offered the placement, BPH will confirm your working pattern with you and issue you with a freelance contract, confirming how and when your fee will be paid. On your first day, we will go through an induction process, and you will have the opportunity to meet the rest of the BPH team.

The Assistant Producer placement is a training and development role, open specifically to people from a refugee background with lived experience of displacement and/or seeking asylum. We welcome applications from people who currently have the right to work in the UK, including those seeking asylum who are permitted to work. You will be paid a freelance fee of £120 per day for 24 days. That’s £2,880 in total.Â
You will have a freelance (self-employed) contract with Bradford Producing Hub, and we will arrange to pay you the fee. You will be responsible for paying any tax or National Insurance due as part of it. (If you are new to freelancing, we can help you understand this.)
You will mostly work from Bradford Producing Hub’s office, but will also work around the Bradford district at training sessions and events. The BPH office (based at Assembly Bradford, BD1 3HT) is currently not accessible to wheelchair users or people who have difficulty navigating numerous stairs. If this is a barrier for you, we will make alternative arrangements and ensure all meetings are held in an accessible location or online.  All BPH public-facing activity is held in accessible venues.
Yes, we can provide support to meet your access needs and cover the costs of travel associated with work (apart from day-to-day travel to the office).
