Calling all Bradford artists and makers, visual arts freelancers, producers, curators, programmers and professionals!

Our laid-back quarterly visual arts social is hosted by our Visual Arts Instigator, Alison McIntyre  – we’d love to see you there for an evening of connecting over food and chats. Come along and meet fellow visual artists of Bradford and catch up with old friends, we’re a friendly bunch!

We try our best to move around the District. For this event, we’re once again hosted by our brilliant friends at Keighley Creative where we’ll share a delicious vegetarian meal from nearby Caterpillar Catering

As well as our usual updates, we’ll introduce you to members of the steering group for OUR TURN to hear more about the developments for a new Visual Arts Festival for Bradford, launching to coincide with the Turner Prize as we welcome it to Bradford during our City of Culture Year.

“OUR TURN is planning to be bold, experimental and authentically Bradford. From print to paint, sculpture to stitch, district-wide, emerging and established.”

There will also be the usual materials swap table for any arts and crafts materials you no longer need, a needs and offers board, and lots of time to connect with and talk with one another.

This event is for all visual artists from Bradford to explore new opportunities, make new connections and be part of a growing visual arts network.

About the venue

Keighley Creative

Keighley Creative is an arts charity and venue co-designing exciting projects and fun activities with local artists, communities, organisations and businesses in the heart of West Yorkshire. They work to ensure that creativity, culture and community can become a reality for everyone, across the district and beyond to enjoy. Home to The Unit, a Channel Four Film Initiative working with up-and-coming content creators from Bradford, and the Stockroom, a performance space and cinema. They run various workshops, events and activities year-round to inspire and involve the local community in arts and culture. They are home to studios and workspaces for artists, all full of local talent!

Meet the artist

Jessica Swift

The artwork commissioned for this Visual Arts Social has been created by Bradford-based artist, Jessica Swift. She primarily works in contemporary sculpture and abstract painting. Interested in the methods of making, she aims to allow the viewer to think about the process behind her work, rather than just the finished piece as a whole. She uses colour, texture and different methods and materials to create her work and highlight the processes used to create a piece.
