Calling all Bradford artists and makers, and visual arts freelancers, producers, curators, programmers and professionals!

Our laid-back quarterly visual arts social is hosted by our Visual Arts Instigator, Alison McIntyre and we’d love to see you there for an evening of creative activity over food and chats. Come meet fellow visual artists of Bradford and catch-up with old friends – we’re a friendly bunch!

For this event we’re hosted by a hidden gem in our city centre, The Society of Dyers and Colourists, who have a fabulous space and are looking forward to telling you more about the work they do. Our creative activity for the evening will be inspired by their archive.

There will also be the usual materials swap table for any arts and crafts materials you no longer need, a needs and offers board, and lots of time to connect with and talk with one another.

This event is for all visual artists from Bradford to explore new opportunities, make new connections and be part of a growing visual arts network as we get ready for Bradford 2025.

About the venue

The Society of Dyers and Colourists

A hidden gem in Bradford, the SDC is a unique international community for colouration professionals and those interested in colour. They promote the study of colour through providing webinars, short courses, and publications.

As a Royal Chartered Body, the SDC also offers degree-level qualifications covering textile dyeing that you can undertake whilst also working in an “earning and learning” model.

Meet the artist

Cat Fortey

The artwork commissioned for this Visual Arts Social has been created by Cat Fortey. Cat is a Bradford-based illustrator who recently developed her practice using risograph printing as part of our Explore programme. We love how Cat has been inspired by this event’s hosts in her work, interweaving colourfully dyed threads around the hands of Bradford artists!
